Air China (CA) will make its baggage through check-in service from international cities to domestic cities (I-D) via Beijing more accessible.
Starting May 21 (Beijing time), Air China passengers who travel from London, Paris, Dusseldorf, Munich, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan, Stockholm, Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Geneva transferring to other Chinese cities via Beijing Capital International Airport can have their baggage checked all the way through to their final destination at the airport of origin.
Houston will also be on the list of the cities with the baggage through check-in service when the route is inaugurated, bringing the total number of cities with this service to 14.
The baggage through check-in service via Beijing Capital International Airport which Air China introduced on September 15, 2012 has greatly eased the experience of passengers. Passengers used to have to claim their baggage and check in their baggage again to the final destination at the transfer airport. But with baggage through check-in, passengers arriving at Beijing Capital International Airport just need to clear the usual immigration formalities for the transfer without having to worry about their baggage.
The international cities where Air China’s baggage through check-in service is available are located in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, and Canada. Europe and North America are Air China’s two most important overseas markets, and this year, the carrier will focus on these two regions. This year, Air China moves to cement its foothold in Europe and North America with three new routes (Beijing-Geneva, Chengdu-Frankfurt, and Beijing-Houston) as well as upgrade its New York operations. The baggage through check-in service and the newly introduced routes will give Air China a new competitive edge.
On the strategic front, Air China has an ambition to go international and shape itself into a large network carrier with the ability to compete on the international arena. The introduction of the baggage through check-in service at Beijing Capital International Airport is a milestone endeavor to cement Beijing as Air China’s hub. On the service front, Air China is committed to offering passengers pleasant travel experiences. Air China hopes that over time the baggage through check-in service will be available to more cities to benefit passengers.
