Finnair starts flight ticket sales directly via WeChat Pay in China

Passengers can use WeChat Pay for tickets sold through Finnair's official WeChat account

Finnair is launching flight ticket sales directly via its official WeChat account in China.

It is now possible to use WeChat Pay as a payment method for the flight tickets sold through Finnair’s official WeChat account.

Finnair passengers are now able to search for Finnair flight tickets, book their flights and complete their purchase with WeChat Pay, all directly through Finnair’s official WeChat account.

This means that passengers stay within the same platform throughout the entire booking process.

Juha Järvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair:

“China is one of our most important markets, and we want to be where our customers are. Enabling ticket sales through WeChat and enabling WeChat Pay are important steps in better serving our customers in this rapidly growing market.”

Earlier this year, Finnair opened a Chinese customer service chat via its official WeChat account, which is open 09:00-18:00 daily.

In the beginning of 2018, Finnair will be the first non-Chinese airline to open a flagship store for online flight bookings on the JD Travel platform, also known as Jingdong, one of the leading e-commerce companies in China.
