British Airways has released images of the new World Traveller Plus and World Traveller seats for its long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft.
The World Traveller Plus (Premium economy) seat has a new leg and footrest, adjustable six-way headrest, a cocktail table at the front and in-arm tray tables.
The World Traveller seats feature a six-way headrest with adjustable ears and movable middle arm rests.
All new seats have larger seatback screens. World Traveller Plus doubles from six to 12 inches, World Traveller increases from six to 10 inches .
The new in-flight Panasonic entertainment system features a bigger choice of films, TV and audio and gesture control to navigate the interface like using a tablet.
New USB sockets are available at every seat allowing all passengers to charge a range of different electronic devices during their flight and World Traveller Plus seats also have an additional power outlet socket for UK, US and EU plugs.
The new seats will first roll out across the airline’s fleet of 10 long-haul 777 aircraft based at Gatwick. The six three-class Boeing 777 aircraft will be completed by winter 2018, with the three four-class variations finishing by summer 2019. Heathrow’s Boeing 777 fleet will be fitted with the new World Traveller Plus seat from autumn 2019.
Densified cabin
The cabins are the new high density layout, with World Traveller (economy) increasing from 9 to 10 seats across. It means that seating in World Traveller on the three-class 777s will increase from 216 to 252 seats, and the four-class B777s will increase from 124 to 136.
The World Traveller Plus cabin in the fleet’s three class 777s will be doubled from 24 to 52 seats, while the Club World cabin will be reduced from 40 to 32 seats. The World Traveller Plus cabin in the fleet’s four class 777s will see an additional 12 seats added.
The first routes to enjoy the fully refreshed aircraft will be Punta Cana, Cancun and Kingston, Jamaica, before it is gradually rolled out across all of British Airways’ 22 long-haul routes from Gatwick.
