Iberia launches home print bag tags

Iberia launched MyBagTag, enabling passengers to download and print their own bag tags from its website.

Iberia has launched a MyBagTag service, becoming the world’s first airline to let passengers download and print their own luggage tags from its website.

The service, accessible online at Iberia’s website, enables pasengers to specify the number of luggage pieces and then download, print and attach the tags themselves, having folded the printer page into quarters.

Re-useable plastic envelopes for holding the tags are available at any Spanish airport, and customers can check-in the pre-tagged luggage at special bag-drop counters.

The MyBagTag service can be used on Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum point-to-point flights to/from any domestic destination, and the service is soon to be extended to the Spanish airline’s European and overseas destinations. Later on, it will be extended to cover flights with connections.

During the trial run at airports that included Madrid, Malaga and Barcelona, “the reading of the tags proved to be 100% reliable, regardless of the printer, paper, or ink color,” Iberia said in a statement.

Iberia claims to be the first airline to implement self print bag tags.

Last October, Billund Airport in Denmark became the first airport to introduce self print bag tags.
