Atlanta welcomes airport’s first common use VIP lounge

ATL has opened The Club at ATL, the airport’s first common use VIP lounge.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) officials announced today the opening of The Club at ATL, the airport’s first common use VIP lounge. The lounge, developed by Airport Lounge Development (ALD), is the newest addition to the Maynard Holbrook Jackson, Jr. International Terminal and is available to all passengers at a daily rate of $35.

“At the busiest passenger airport in the world, we strive to provide an exceptional experience for all our customers and we are excited to welcome The Club at ATL,” said Hartsfield-Jackson general manager Louis Miller. “The new VIP airport lounge is another example of how Hartsfield-Jackson is responding to the needs of today’s travelers.”

The concept of ‘common use’ or independent VIP airport lounges is still relatively rare in the US, but very popular in Europe and Asia. ALD is borrowing from this strong tradition in Europe and Asia, and tailoring it to the US market, designing and operating spaces that allow travelers to relax in comfort while waiting for their flight, enjoying complimentary food and beverages, including alcohol, and accessing free Wi-Fi, magazines, newspapers and television. Guests can be traveling on any airline, with any class of ticket, and simply need to purchase a day-pass from reception for $35, or be enrolled in the non-airline affiliated membership program, PriorityPass.

“There’s an increasing number of travelers who want a different airport experience. The Club at ATL is the right choice for these travelers. They’re looking for comfortable, tranquil surroundings, a choice of seating and social settings, snacks and beverages, great service from experienced staff, ample power outlets, fast, reliable Wi-Fi and more, perhaps even a shower. They can find all of this in a single location by visiting The Club at ATL. We provide all of this at an affordable price, without the yearly membership fees,” said Graham Richards, Director of Operations for ALD.

The lounge, outfitted with modern furniture, a two story glass wall, work stations, bars and shower facilities is approximately 7,257 square feet and accommodates 161 people. It officially opens to the public on Thursday, July 18, 2013.
