Phase 5 Technology

Phase 5 Technology is currently the only UK business to supply self-service passenger processing units to the aviation sector.

It has developed the revolutionary SONIC Bag Drop solution using intelligent software, cloud hosting and modern components to make passenger processing in airports faster and smoother.

Phase 5 Technology was the first company to introduce check-in and bag drop machines that operated outside restrictive legacy protocols. Phase 5 also introduced the first Chip & PIN payments for excess baggage and self-adhesive tags in the UK. The Phase 5 software is updated weekly to continually refine and improve processes and add new functionality.

With the help of UKTI, Phase 5 has entered new markets in Europe and is also receiving enquiries from North America and the Pacific regions.

The SONIC Bag Drop is currently Europe’s leading Self-service bag drop by installed bases, operating at 13 airports around the UK and Ireland with installations booked into 3 more European airports for February 2015. SONIC processes 40,000 bags per week for CityJet, easyJet, Flybe & Ryanair, making passenger journeys quicker and easier through the airport terminal.

Lawrence Eke, Managing Director at Phase 5 Technology said:

“We’re thrilled to have been selected as a regional winner in the GREAT Faces of British Business competition. There’s a wealth of innovative small and medium-sized businesses out there and it’s great to be recognised as one of them by the competition.

We are a small company with a fantastic product, operating in a sector dominated by huge multi-nationals.

It would mean everything for us to win the national award and so please show your support by voting for us on www.greatbusiness.gov.uk/competition.”

Business Minister Matthew Hancock said:

“Phase 5 Technology is a brilliant example of a successful small firm run by enterprising and hardworking people.
We are backing them all the way and, with the advice and support on offer, there has never been a better time to start and grow a business in the UK.”

Self bag drop

Self bag drop is probably the area of passenger self-service that is growing fastest and there are a number of excellent competing products. It says a great deal for Phase 5 and its SONIC bag drop that it has been so successful so soon.
