Ryanair passengers at London Stansted can now tag and drop their bags themselves thanks to the introduction of eight self bag drop units.
The bag drops mean that typical speeds for passengers to drop a tagged bag are 25 – 35 seconds per bag.
The time to print and attach the tag should be added to the overall time the passenger spends.
Self Bag Drop
Self Bag Drop uses cloud-based technologies, integrating with the airline’s DCS using the IATA CUWS standards. The cloud-based architecture means that each bag drop is a ‘plug and play’ device, allowing rapid installation and deployment for airports.
SONIC process in excess of 50,000 bags per week for CityJet, easyJet, Flybe, Loganair & Ryanair, making passenger journeys quicker and easier through the airport terminal.
Phase 5 Technology partnered with Daifuku Logan to deliver the SONIC Bag Drop installation for London Stansted Airport.
Ryanair 90% on time
Ryanair today (19 May) released its April customer service statistics which show that their new customer service attitude is working:
- 90% of over 52,000 flights arriving on-time
- Less than 1 complaint per 1,000 passengers (up slightly due to the French ATC strikes)
- Less than 1 bag complaint per 2,000 passengers
- Over 99% of all complaints answered within 7 days.
