Jetstar receives its first Airbus A321neo

Australia’s Jetstar Airways has taken delivery of its first A321neo directly from Airbus.

The low cost airline will operate the new aircraft in a single class with 232 seats.

The cabin features extra-large Airspace overhead bins, USB ports and tablet holders at every seat and the latest lighting system for an overall enhanced passenger experience.

The airline is also equipping the A321s with digital streaming technology which means passengers can access Jetstar’s inflight entertainment on their own devices when they fly.

Jetstar’s new A321neo is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines and is fitted with an additional fuel tank, allowing the aircraft to fly up to 1200kms further than Jetstar’s current A320s.

That gives Jetstar the opportunity to expand its international network across the Asia Pacific region.

Jetstart plans to start commercial flights with the A321neo in early September.

Total of 38 A320neo family on order

The aircraft is the first of 38 A320neo family aircraft for Jetstar, comprising 18 A321neo and 20 A321XLR.

A further eight A321neos are expected between August 2022 and May 2023, with all 18 aircraft expected by mid-2024.

The 20 A32neo aircraft will arrive between 2024 and 2029.

As at the end of June 2022, the A320neo family has received more than 8,000 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide.
