Garuda flights with Panasonic inflight connectivity

Garuda has taken delivery of two 777-300ER aircraft with Panasonic Avionics Global Communications Services.

Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic), the world leader in state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and communications (IFEC) systems, today announced that Garuda Indonesia (Garuda) has taken delivery of its first two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with its Global Communications Services.

Garuda will be taking a total of 10 777-300ERs fitted with Panasonic’s Global Communication Services.  Garuda, in cooperation with PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), is the first airline in Indonesia to offer the complete range of in-flight communication services including eXConnect, eXPhone, and eXTV.

Services are currently being offered on routes from Jakarta/Denpasar to Narita and Jakarta/Denpasar to Jeddah.  All of Garuda’s 777-300ERs will be delivered by 2015.

eXConnect is the only truly global in-flight broadband connectivity service available today.  It allows passengers to surf the Internet and also enables a wide range of onboard operational efficiency applications for airlines.

eXPhone, which is offered in collaboration with Aeromobile’s in-flight mobile phone service, allows passengers to use their mobile phones, smart phones onboard to make and receive voice calls, send and receive SMS text messages, and use GPRS services such as email and internet access.

eXTV, which launched in 2011, delivers live content from BBC World News, BBC Arabic, CNBC, CNN International, Euronews, NHK World Premium and the exclusive Sport 24 live sports channel produced by IMG, enabling Garuda’s passengers to stay up to date with the latest news, and the results of their favorite sports team while cruising at 35,000 feet.
