CLEAR expands to Austin-Bergstrom

Becomes the thirteenth airport in the US to offer CLEAR.

Clear announced that it is expanding its expedited security clearance service to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in October 2015.

CLEAR uses biometric technology to identify paid members and help them through airport security in the airports where it operates in under five minutes on average.

The company integrates its scanning kiosks into the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) existing Pre-Check system at the airport.

Passengers don’t get to skip security. CLEAR members are given access to separate expedited security lanes once their identity is verified or they get to go to the front of the security line.

Passengers who sign up at a Clear airport location can enroll for a free 1 month trial, while Clear offers both corporate rates and family plans.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will be the 13th airport in the US and the 5th airport in Texas, with locations already open in Dallas Fort-Worth, San Antonio, and Houston (Bush and Hobby).

Jim Smith, Executive Director, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport:

“CLEAR offers our travelers an expedited security screening process which enhances customer service. Providing our passengers with a secure and more enjoyable travel process is a priority.”

How it works

Step 1: Passengers register their details, pay an annual fee and get a CLEARcard. Passengers have to verify their ID by allowing their fingerprints and iris image to be captured and stored by CLEAR.

Step 2: At the airport passengers insert their CLEARcard into a CLEAR kiosk, the kiosk verifies the passenger is the one registered by scanning their retinas and fingerprints

Step 3: A CLEAR representative escorts the passenger to the front of the physical screening line.

The cost

Passengers pay a fee of USD 179 a year.
