United partners with iPass for in-flight Wi-Fi

Rollout begins during the fourth quarter of 2016

United Airlines has announced a partnership with iPass that promises seamless and secure in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity.

The cloud-based service announced that it would be providing its customers with Wi-Fi access to the United Airlines Wi-Fi in-flight network.

This means that United passengers who also use will be able to access Wi-Fi in the terminal and on the aircraft with iPass.

The rollout, which is slated to begin during the fourth quarter of 2016 will give iPass users a secure, frictionless Wi-Fi experience as they move from the airport terminal to United Airlines aircraft and beyond, utilizing a single service.

The rollout is scheduled to commence during the fourth quarter of 2016 and, once complete, will provide eligible customers Wi-Fi access across United’s entire Wi-Fi enabled fleet.

United Airlines passengers who are iPass customers will benefit from a secure, frictionless Wi-Fi experience as they move from the airport terminal to United Airlines aircraft and beyond.

iPass CEO Gary Griffiths:

“In an increasingly connected world, ubiquitous, reliable and secure connectivity has become a requirement for mobile professionals. Inflight is a critical venue for keeping United Airlines and iPass customers connected, and United Airlines is an essential addition to our inflight offering. We are delighted to enter into this partnership with United Airlines.”

Scott Wilson, United’s vice president of merchandising and eCommerce:

“United is dedicated to giving our customers the choice to be productive, relaxed or entertained inflight. Working with iPass enables us to further deliver on that promise for our customers, who will benefit from faster logins and greater ease of connection.”
