India’s newest airline, flybig, has made its inaugural flight.
The new airline (S9), based at Indore in west-central India, made the 65 minute flight from Indore (IDR) to Ahmedabad (AMD) using an ATR 72 aircraft.
To start with, flybig is flying the route three times a week, going up to 5 a week in February and daily in March.
From January 13, flybig will add the 90 minute Indore – Raipur route. On February 1, it adds the 70 minute Ahmedabad – Bhopal route.
All these cities are tier-2. India still has towns and cities which are not connected by direct flights. So many people have to use sometimes inconvenient and time-consuming ways to travel – mainly buses and trains. So that is the market flybig is aiming at.
flyBig serves free Inflight snacks, flight times being too short for anything more. And no plans to sell them either.
Best wishes to flyBig for a wonderful future.
