The A321neo is the first ever Airbus aircraft for the Chinese carrier.
Until now Xiamen Airlines has only operated Boeing aircraft.
In September 2022 the airline placed an order for 40 Airbus A320 family aircraft. Xiamen Airlines expects the aircraft to be delivered between 2024 and 2027.
The new aircraft is on lease from CMB Financial Leasing.
Xiamen Airlines is operating its A321neo in a two class layout with 208 seats:
- 8 Business
- 200 Economy
The airline plans to start commercial flights with its new A321neo in spring 2023.
Flights are expected to be from its base at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) to Beijing Daxing (PKX), Chengdu Tianfu ( TFU), and Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA).

Boeing fleet
Xiamen Airlines currently has the largest Boeing fleet in China. The 140+ aircraft include:
- 128 Boeing 737 (-700 and -800)
- 12 Boeing 787-8
The airline also has 10 737 MAX 8 parked. It received its first 737 MAX in 2018.
