ITA Airways, Italy’s national carrier, has taken delivery of its first A330neo.
The A330-900neo is the first of 17 the airline has on order, 10 direct from Airbus and 7 from Air Lease Corporation. All 17 should be in operation by late 2027.
The new long haul aircraft will make its first commercial flights in early June from Rome Fiumicino to New York JFK and Miami.
ITA is an all-Airbus airline. It already has a fleet of 68 Airbus aircraft:
- 4 A220
- 50 A320 family
- 8 A330-200
- 6 A350-900
The delivery took place on the same day that Lufthansa confirmed it is buying 41% of ITA.
Cabin layout and features
The ITA Airways A330neo has 291 seats in three classes:
- Business, with 30 seats in a 1-2-1 layout
- Premium Economy, with 24 seats in a 2-3-2 layout
- Economy, 237 seats (including 36 comfort economy), in a 2-4-2 alyout
Business
The Business seat is a Thomson Vantage XL and has a lie-flat bed and 17.3” screen.
Premium Economy
The Premium Economy seat is a Safran Z535i with 40″ pitch and 15.6” screen.
Economy
The Economy seat is a Safran Z400 with 31″ pitch and 13.3” screen.
36 of the economy seats are branded as Comfort Economy as they have a bit more legroom than the basic economy seats.
Cabin features
The cabin features the Airbus Airspace cabin with more passenger space, a new lighting system, the latest in-flight entertainment systems and full connectivity throughout the cabin.
All seats have a state-of-the-art IFE system with low reflectance touchscreen displays with 4K resolution.
Passengers can view destination information through an interactive 3D map and enjoy a range of on-demand audio and video content, movies, TV series and music including 372 hours of video programming and 22 hours of audio programming.
The aircraft is also equipped with Bluetooth audio and a connectivity system through which passengers can buy different service packages according to their needs: messaging, mailing and internet browsing and streaming.
About the Airbus A330neo
The A330neo is the new-generation version of the popular A330 widebody. Incorporating the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, new wings and a range of aerodynamic innovations, the aircraft offers a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The A330-900 is capable of flying 7,200 nm / 13,334 km non-stop.
At the end of April, the A330 Family had registered a total of over 1775 firm orders of which 289 are A330neos from 25 customers. To date, 100 A330neos have been delivered globally.
