Mongolia’s principal airport has introduced automated border control (ABC) eGates.
Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) has added ABC eGates for arriving and departing passengers.
The system is voluntary and passengers have to register to use the ABC eGates.
The eGates check passengers passport and fingerprints.
The biometric data in most epassports is facial rather than fingerprints. So any passengers wanting to use the eGates have to register to use the system.
Passengers can register for the new system before departure at the Departures Gate at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, or fill out an application and provide their passport for processing at Dunjingarav State Service Center in Ulaanbaatar.
There is no charge for registering or using the use of the automated system.
PassengerSelfService discussed the new system with the Mongolian Tourism Association at the World Travel Market today in London.
