Japan Airlines (JAL) is now providing free internet access for the entire flight to all passengers on domestic routes.
This is an enhancement of the JAL promotion announced in January 2017, that all passengers on domestic flights could enjoy free Wi-Fi between 01 February and 31 August, 2017.
So it means that the free offer is now permanent and is significant as JAL has been offering inflight internet services since July 2014 as a paid service.
As well as free inflight Wi-Fi, inflight video programs such as sports, gourmet, music and animation etc. are also available for free on Wi-Fi equipped flights and can also be streamed on passengers’ own Wi-Fi devices.
Applicable Routes
The free Wi-Fi applies to all JAL and JTA (Japan Transocean Air, a subsidiary of the JAL Group) domestic routes operated by aircraft equipped with inflight Wi-Fi. The free internet service is not available on domestic routes operated by international aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi.
How it works
To use the free inflight Wi-Fi service passengers follow these simple steps:
- Turn on Airplane Mode before take-off
- Connect to “gogoinflight” Wi-Fi network
- Open an internet browser
- Select “FREE” button on the Wi-Fi portal page
The internet service is available from 5 minutes after take-off until 5 minutes before landing .
