Air Belgium receives its first A330neo

Airline expects a second A330neo in December

Brussels-based carrier Air Belgium has received the first of two A330neo from Airbus.

The aircraft’s first commercial flight is on October 15th 2021 from Brussels to Mauritius.

Air Belgium expects it second A330neo to enter service in late November.

Both aircraft are configured in a three class layout with a total of 286 seats:

  • 30 Business Class seats (7 rows in a 1-2-1 layout and 1 row with 2 seats)
  • 21 Premium Class (3 rows in a 2-3-2 layout)
  • 235 Economy Class (31 rows mainly in a 2-4-2 layout with some rows as 2-3-2)

The aircraft features the Airbus Airspace cabin. All seats have the latest-generation, in-flight entertainment system, on-board wifi and mood lighting.

Air Belgium is deploying the A330neo on routes connecting Brussels to long-haul destinations.

The Belgian carrier currently operates an all-Airbus widebody fleet comprising A330-200F and A340-300; the A340s will be gradually replaced by the A330neos.

The A330neo combines environmental and economical performances, greater comfort and a unique passenger experience.

The A330neo Family is the new-generation A330; it builds on the proven economics, versatility and reliability of the  A330 Family, while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by about 25 per cent-per-seat compared to previous-generation, competitor aircraft, and offers an unrivalled range capability.

At the end of September Airbus had orders for more than 1,800 A330s from 126 customers.

(A second A330neo is expected in November 2021 and the A330neos will gradually replace the A340s).
