Royal Brunei trials IATA Travel Pass

Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) is the latest airline to trial the IATA Travel Pass app developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Passengers can use the mobile app to verify they meet COVID-19 health requirements for their trip.

Passengers are able to create a digital health credential which will link their test results, proof of vaccination and travel information to their verified identity. The app also aims to pre-validate passengers before arrival at airports in order to make airline and security processes faster.

What is IATA Travel Pass?

IATA Travel Pass is a mobile app that helps passengers to store and manage their verified certifications for COVID-19 tests or vaccines.

  • it enables passengers to find accurate information on travel, testing, and vaccine requirements for their journey
  • it enables passengers to access certified COVID-19 testing centres at their departure location which meet the requirements of their destination
  • it allows passengers to manage their travel documentation digitally.

Passengers today can access over 1,500 COVID-19 test labs via the IATA Travel Pass app.

As expected, the IATA Travel Pass is becoming the industry standard.

Captain Hj Khalidkhan Hj Asmakhan, RB CEO:

“RB has recently been rated with the highest seven-star rating against COVID-19 by www.airlineratings.com. The introduction of the IATA Travel Pass app further cements our commitment to the health and safety of our guests.

“As part of RB’s efforts to support the Nation and provide safe travel to our passengers during this critical and challenging time, we have been working closely with IATA to better understand the app. This paired with the recent launch of Brunei’s vaccination strategy are a definite boost to morale and a positive step towards safely reopening borders and connecting our guests to the rest of our network.”
