Arajet receives its first Boeing 737 MAX 8

Startup airline Arajet has received the first of five Boeing 737 MAX 8 it has ordered.

The new airline from the Dominican Republic is an Ultra Low Cost Carrier (ULCC) and plans to start flights in 2022. The actual start date could be announced in the next week.

The brand new aircraft, registration HI-1026, arrived at Las Americas International airport in Santo Domingo and will now go through Dominican regulatory procedures. It is the first 737 MAX 8 in the Dominican Republic.

Arajet’s 3737 MAX 8 aircraft will have a single class with 189 seats.

The airline plans to fly from the Dominican Republic to the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Aruba and others in the Caribbean, South America and Central America.

The aircraft is leased from Griffin Global Asset Management.
