Sunclass Airlines receives its first Airbus A321neo

Leased from Air Lease Corporation

Danish leisure airline Sunclass Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The aircraft is the first of two A321neos ordered by Sunclass and was delivered from the Airbus site in Hamburg, Germany.

The new A321neo will help Sunclass with its strategy to improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

There are no details yet about the cabin layout. Sunclass already operates nine A321-200 ceos with 212 seats in a single class.

The new aircraft is on lease from Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corporation, who also delivered a new A330-900neo to Sunclass Airlines.

Both aircraft delivered to Sunclass Airlines are on long-term lease from ALC’s order book with Airbus.

By operating the A330neo and A321neo in parallel, Sunclass Airlines will become an all-Airbus operator and benefit from the manufacturer’s unique commonality.

The A321neo

The Airbus A321neo is a very efficient and versatile aircraft.

Passenger Capacity

The longest-fuselage member of Airbus’ single-aisle A320 Family, it comfortably seats 180 to 220 passengers in a typical two-class layout, and as many as 244 in a higher-density arrangement.

Fuel Efficiency

The A321neo is powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1A and Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM geared turbofan, which deliver fuel savings of up to 20% compared to the previous A321ceo.

The A321neo features advanced wingtip devices known as sharklets, which improve aerodynamic efficiency and reduce drag by up to 4%, further enhancing fuel efficiency.

Global Success

At the end of November 2023, the A321neo had received over 5,600 orders from more than 100 customers worldwide.
