Croatia Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220.
The aircraft is the first of 15 new A220s ordered by the airline. The total order is for 13 A220-300 and two A220-100.
The airline expects the second A220 by the end of 2024, the next six are expected to be delivered in 2025, four in 2026, and three aircraft in 2027.
The first commercial flight is scheduled for August 06 from Zagreb (ZAG) to Split Saint Jerome (SPU). The first international flight is scheduled to Frankfurt on August 07.
Fleet renewal
Croatia’s flag carrier has embarked on the biggest project in the 35 year history of the company – the renewal of its entire fleet.
Adaptable for short and medium-haul commercial operations, the aircraft can fly non-stop up to 3,600 nautical miles or 6,700 kilometres. This flexibility makes the A220 the ideal solution to facilitate Croatia Airlines’ gradual expansion of its network.
Cabin layout
Croatia Airlines A220-300 will have a 149 seats across 30 rows in a 2-3 layout.
The A220-100s will have 127 seats, also in a 2-3 layout.
The split between Business and Economy can be varied.
Supplier
Croatia Airlines is leasing the A220 from Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corporation.
It is the first of six new A220 aircraft coming to the airline from ALC’s order book with Airbus.

Built for the 100 to 150-seat market, the Airbus A220 features modern aviation technology that delivers fuel efficiency and excellent passenger comfort, including wide seats, large windows and spacious overhead bins.

- At the end of June 2024, Airbus had over 900 orders from around 30 customers for the A220.
- Over 340 A220s are currently flying on more than 1,400 routes and more than 440 destinations worldwide.
- To date, more than 100 million passengers have flown on the A220.
