Passengers can finally book Allegris Business Class on Lufthansa 787-9s

Passengers flying with Lufthansa can finally book Business Class on its 787-9s with its fancy Allegris seats.

From today, passengers can book 25 of the 28 Allegris seats on 787-9s for travel from April 15 on long-haul routes from Frankfurt.

Allegris is the name for Lufthansa’s latest cabin concept for long-haul in all classes.

First announced in early 2023, Allegris started flights in late 2025 in all classes from Munich in the Airbus A350-900.

Since October 2025, Lufthansa has been flying with Allegris from Frankfurt in brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

While Economy, premium economy and first class have all been working well, the business class rollout has had problems.

The Allegris business class seats could not be certified, and the airline has been flying with most of the seats empty. Only four have been in use – the front row.

As Business makes most of the dosh for airlines, that is a lot of lost cash.

The seats have been hard to certify due to the complex layout that includes five different seat configurations in a single cabin. And the 787-9 fuselage is different from the A350.

Lufthansa now says that ‘nothing now stands in the way of the approval of Allegris Business Class in the Boeing 787-9 – with the exception of three seats in the second row of the compartment’.

So, the airline can now sell 25 of those 28 seats – the 3 unsold are in the second row.

This is how Lufthansa explains how and what to book:

When booking, travelers have the option of selecting special Allegris seats in Business Class. Reservations for Classic Seats remain free of charge and offer all the benefits of the new travel class. Passengers can also optionally book seats with additional comfort (the Business Class Suite, the Extra Space Seat with extra legroom, the Privacy Seat by the window, and the Extra Long Bed with a 2.20-meter lying surface) in advance via seat reservation for an additional charge.

787-9 routes from Frankfurt

Lufthansa has 787-9s, with 21 more on order. All are due to be delivered by the end of 2027.

From Frankfurt, the Boeing 787-9 with Allegris will fly to Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Cape Town, Shanghai, Hyderabad, and Hong Kong at the start of the summer flight schedule. New York JFK and Los Angeles will be added in June, followed by Delhi in July.
