The  app was introduced in time for the busy holiday travel season, and the airport says it is the latest way it is leveraging technology to improve the customer experience.

Called MIA Airport Official, the app puts all MIA has to offer at the fingertips of iPhone and Android users.

The MIA mobile app is built on a simple, intuitive platform that allows users to confidently navigate MIA’s 7.5 million square feet of terminal space, more than 200 shops and restaurants, and numerous ground transportation options.

A real-time flight tracking feature and essential information on the airport’s 51 scheduled passenger airlines bring added value to app users, and in a direct nod to MIA’s diverse international customer base, the MIA mobile app features fully bilingual functionality in English and Spanish.

The app also includes an “Around Me” feature that allows passengers to pinpoint their location in MIA and view all amenities within a five-minute walk.

Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. González said, “Our passengers are more tech-oriented than ever before, and they rightfully expect airports to offer customer service amenities in the digital space. The MIA mobile app is one way that we’re meeting that demand, and it reflects our commitment to weaving technology and innovation into all that we do at MIA, particularly on the customer-facing side of the business.”

MIA Airport Official is now available for free download at Google Play and the iTunes App Store.

Future versions of the app will incorporate Bluetooth-driven beacons that were recently installed throughout MIA and allow for concessionaires, airlines and other airport stakeholders to push relevant information to mobile users.
