A smartphone is now enough to get passengers on flights at Akron-Canton (CAK) in Ohio.
Passsenger can now use their mobile device to display their boarding pass at check-in, at the TSA security checkpoint and to board their flight. Participating airlines include US Airways, Delta and United.
“Travel preparation is quickly going mobile,” said Rick McQueen, President & CEO. “We are delighted that most of our air carriers are offering mobile boarding technology to our Customers. It makes flying from CAK even more enjoyable.”
CAK Customers flying AirTran or Southwest Airlines® also can expect mobile boarding passes, as a future benefit of the integration of the two carriers.
The service has been available for two weeks and about 100 travelers per day have been using it.
The airport also is working with the TSA on a mobile pre-check program. That system could be in place within a few weeks.
CAK is also making significant progress on CAK 2018, the airport’s 10-year, $110-million capital improvement plan.
