Self-service kiosk check-in introduced at Malta

Lufthansa will be the launch customer for this service

Malta International Airport (MLA) has just announced the launch of self-service check-in kiosks at the airport’s check-in hall. Lufthansa will be the launch customer for this service.

Malta International Airport CEO, Markus Klaushofer said that the the introduction of the kiosks is proof of MLA’s commitment to invest in services that enhance the passenger experience providing travelers with an efficient end-to-end self-service.

“Apart from improving our airport’s passenger flow this service allow passengers more time to enjoy the various facilities in our terminal” continued Mr. Klaushofer.

The automated, interactive and touch-screen based check-in machines will ensure passengers have more flexibility and control over their travel experience.

The airport says that check-in through this channel is particularly convenient for passengers travelling with hand luggage.

Malta International Airport is the only airport in Malta. The airport serves as the main hub for Air Malta and a base for Ryanair. Other major airlines operating at MLA include Air France, British Airways, easyJet, Emirates, SAS and Turkish Airlines.

MLA had 209,102 departing passengers in June 2014.
