Digital library kiosk opens at North Carolina airport

Passengers can download e-books, audio books and videos

Albert J. Ellis Airport in North Carolina has introduced a digital library kiosk.

The kiosk allows passengers to scan through hundreds of e-books, audio books and videos and then download them to their phone, tablet or laptop for free.

Up to three titles can be checked out for two weeks at a time. There are unlimited copies available so passengers don’t have to worry if other people want to check out the same title.

There are no overdue fines as the book just stops working on devices at the end of the two weeks.

Passengers will also be able to use the kiosk to charge their devices, check flight information and the weather.

The kiosk cost $15,000 and was funded through a grant and donations to the library.
