Japan Airlines adds JAL SKY SUITE to its Boeing 787-9

Starts Tokyo Narita / Kuala Lumpur late July 2017

Japan Airlines is introducing a new JAL SKY SUITE configuration for its Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The new JAL SKY SUITE 787-9 (SS9 II) will start operating on the Tokyo Narita / Kuala Lumpur route (JL723/JL724) at the end of July 2017, and progressively expand onto other international routes.

Business Class

Business Class will be retrofitted with the fully-flat seat JAL SKY SUITE III, which was installed on the airline’s Boeing 777-200ER last June. In addition, the number of seats will increase to 52 from the current 44.

The JAL SKY SUITE III seat, has the following features:

  • unobstructed aisle access for every seat as the configuration is 1-2-1
  • fully-flat seat with plenty of legroom
  • newly designed storage for holding small articles near removable armrest at aisle side
  • 17-inch personal TV screen (9.0 ~ 10.4-inch personal TV screen on the existing Boeing 777-200ER)
  • user-friendly storage in the seat and large swivel table for more flexibility in movement
  • AC power outlet, USB Port and adjustable LED light equipped with every seat

Premium Economy Class

Premium Economy Class will have 35 JAL SKY PREMIUM seats, the same number of seats as now.

The seating configuration in Premium Economy is 2-4-2.

Economy Class

Economy Class will have 116 JAL SKY WIDER seats, the same number of seats as now.

The seating configuration in Premium Economy is 2-4-2.

The 8-abreast layout, instead of the now industry norm of 9-abreast gives passengers 5 cm extra width and 5 cm. increased seat pitch.

The new layout is part of JAL’s wider plan to introduce JAL SKY SUITE across its Boeing 777-300ER/-200ER, Boeing 767-300ER, and Boeing 787-8/-9 on select international routes.
