Lufthansa to trial faster boarding at Munich

Called SmartDepart the new service is for Lufthansa passengers flying from Munich Terminal 2 to Düsseldorf, Berlin/Tegel, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

It will only be available at peak hours and is limited to passengers with one carry on.

During the hours of 06:00 to 08:30 and 16:00 to 18:30, there will be a separate security check just for these routes. The location of the departure gates are in the middle of Terminal 2 and only a short walk from the security check.

Passengers on the selected domestic flights can arrive at the gate later as the boarding time is expected to be reduced from 30 to 20 minutes.
