China Eastern Airlines receives first ever C919

First of 5 C919s for China Eastern

China Eastern Airlines has received the world’s first C919 aircraft.

The new aircraft, with registration B-919A, is the first of 5 firm orders from China Eastern.

The C919 is China’s first China’s first domestically-developed narrow-body jet and is China’s rival to the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

It has between 158 and 192 seats and this is particular aircraft has 164 seats in a 2 class layout:

  • 8 business class
  • 156 economy

Business class has a standard 2 x 2 seating and economy is 3 x 3. In the economy cabin, the middle seat in each row is 1.5 cm wider than its neighbours.

China Eastern plans to start commercial flights with the C919 in the spring of 2023 on popular domestic routes from Shanghai to:

  • Beijing’s Daxing
  • Guangzhou and Shenzhen
  • Chengdu
  • Xiamen
  • Wuhan
  • Qingdao

It is believed the C919 has received just over 1000 orders mainly from Chinese airlines and leasing companies.
