Heathrow has announced to its loyalty programme members that it is launching free wifi on 01 June 2013.

The announcement was made in an email titled – Heathrow Rewards, the new name for WorldPoints‏. As part of the rebranding from BAA to Heathrow, the loyalty scheme is changing to Heathrow Rewards instead of BAA Worldpoints.

The email says that with the launch of free passenger Wi-Fi at Heathrow on 1 June 2013, Heathrow Rewards members can look forward to twice the amount of complimentary access to non-members.

No further details were given.

Heathrow owns three other UK airports: Glasgow (GLA), Aberdeen (ABZ) and Southampton (SOU).

Glasgow and Southampton each provide 30 minutes free WiFi.

Aberdeen offers free and unlimited wifi.

Glasgow is free for 30 mins. Then £3 – 1 hr, £5 – 3 hrs, £9 – 24 hrs, £70 – 6 months, £130 – 1 year.

Southampton is free for 30 mins. Then: £3 – 1 hr, £5 – 3 hrs, £9 – 24 hrs, £70 – 6 months, £130 – 1 year.

Stansted (STN), previously owned by Heathrow/BAA and now owned by M.A.G. offers free wifi for 1 hour.

London City (LCY) has offered free wifi for all passengers for some years.
