Passengers on Indian low-cost airline IndiGo can now have their bags picked up at their home and delivered to their final destination.
IndiGo is partnering with CarterPorter to provide the new baggage transfer service. It is called 6EBagport, 6E being the IATA code for IndiGo.
To start, IndiGo is offering the service on flights from Delhi and Hyderabad. Plans are in place to also launch at Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Passengers can be assured their baggage is safe as the baggage is tracked throughout the entire trip.
Passengers can book the service on CarterX’s platform www.6ebagport.carterporter.in/.
It can be booked up to 24 hours in advance for departures and anytime for arrivals.
CarterX picks up the baggage outside the passenger’s door, sanitize the bags, wrap them in secure packaging and transport them to the airport in a sanitized van. Outside the terminal the passenger meets CarterX staff and they proceed to bag drop off together.
CarterX staff meet the passenger at the baggage carousel. Again they sanitize the bags, wrap them in secure packaging and transport them to the home address in a sanitized van.
Prices start at Rs 630 (about USD 8) one way.
