Cork Airport (ORK) is the latest and the first Irish Airport to launch Google Indoor Maps of Airport Terminal and launches new mobile App.
Google Indoor Maps allows passengers to allowing take a virtual tour of the inside of the Cork Airport terminal building. In addition, Cork Airport has launched a new free iPhone and Android App that is the essential guide to the full range of services at the Airport.
The Google Indoor Streetview feature, which uses over 840 stitched images, allows passengers to explore the check-in areas, departure and arrivals halls, shops and restaurants before they even get to the airport. Once they are inside the airport, passengers are able to instantly identify where they are and navigate their way around.
The new Cork Airport App, developed by Cork Airport in tandem with Irish web design company FeedHenry, includes features such as live arrivals and departures information, car park booking, integrated maps and details of all of the retail and catering outlets within the terminal. The app also includes links to airport shopping services with all the latest offers from The Loop. It provides current weather details at Cork Airport, as well as live weather reports for all destinations.
The new digital initiatives come on foot of a €3milion redevelopment project by Cork Airport to improve passenger experience. The redevelopments included upgrading the baggage security screening system, introducing new screening technology for liquids and gels, upgrading the customer information desk and redeveloping the screening and airside vehicle access point used by General Aviation and Private Aircraft passengers.
The Cork Airport App is available to download free in the iTunes and Google Play store while the Google Indoor Map services can be accessed from desktop browsers, android and iOS smartphones, and tablets by logging on to the Google Maps website, the Google Maps app, or the Cork Airport website.
